A few weeks ago, I was sitting in an all-hands meeting for my day job when a text came in. It was from Michael, the owner of horseboarding.com, asking if I might be interested in buying the domain. He was focused on other web projects, wasn’t using it, and wanted it to stay in the horse community. He had noticed how quickly Horse Agistment Finder was growing and thought the domain could be a good home for the project.
We texted back and forth for a few weeks and came to an agreement. I’m excited to announce that Horse Agistment Finder is moving to a shorter web address: horseboarding.com.
The name Horse Agistment Finder isn’t changing, and neither is the website. The map, property listings, and accounts will remain the same. Only the web address is changing.
The shorter address is easier to remember, say, and type on a phone in a stable aisle with cold hands. The original address has served the site well, and it will remain available so people can continue using links they’ve already shared or saved.
Why the address is changing
When I started Horse Agistment Finder, the original domain made the site’s purpose clear. It was descriptive, but it was also long and had two hyphens. Those details can make an address harder to remember, especially when someone hears it in conversation or tries to type it on a phone.
Horseboarding.com is shorter and easier to pass along. It also uses the phrase many horse owners in North America, where most of the listings are, already use when looking for a place to keep their horses.
The shorter address doesn’t mean the site is becoming something different. Horse Agistment Finder is still built around a simple idea: helping horse owners find agistment properties with available space, without having to ring one property after another just to find out who has room.
What stays the same
When you visit horseboarding.com, you’ll find the same Horse Agistment Finder.
The home page has a map and a list of agistment properties. Availability indicators show which properties are reporting available space and which have marked themselves as full. Property pages include information supplied and maintained by the owners, such as descriptions, prices when provided, facilities, photos, and contact details.
Owners manage their own listings and update their availability as spaces open up or fill. The goal is to make it easier for horse owners to see what’s available while giving both large equestrian centres and small private properties a place on the same map.
A listing is a starting point, not a guarantee that a particular horse will be accepted. Availability can change, so it’s still important to contact the property, ask questions, and decide whether it is right for your horse.
The site will continue to serve horse owners in different parts of the world. In the United States and Canada, people commonly say horse boarding. In Britain and Ireland, livery is widely used, while agistment is familiar in Australia and New Zealand. The shorter domain doesn’t change the terminology used throughout the site and its articles.
Searching remains free, and horse owners don’t need an account to browse the map or view property information. Horse Agistment Finder helps people find properties; agistment arrangements are made directly between the horse owner and the property.
For horse owners
You can keep using your existing bookmarks and saved links. If you have a link to a particular property, you shouldn’t need to search for it again simply because the domain has changed.
You can also visit horseboarding.com directly and search for properties by location.
For property owners
If you already have a listing, you don’t need to create another one. Your existing listing, photos, description, pricing, facilities, and availability will remain in place.
Your login details won’t change, either. You can continue using your account dashboard to manage your listing and update available spaces as usual. Any existing listing renewal requirements will also remain the same.
If you’ve shared your property link in a Facebook group, on your own website, or in an email, there’s no need to delete older posts just because they contain the original address. When you next update a flyer, website, or social media post, you can use the shorter address instead.
What happens to the old address?
The original address, horse-boarding-finder.com, will remain available during the transition. Existing links will continue working through redirects to horseboarding.com, including links to individual property pages.
That matters because property links have already been shared in Facebook groups, sent to friends, and saved for future reference. Property owners may also have the original address on their websites or in their email signatures.
Once the redirects are in place and working, you shouldn’t have to update every old link at once. If you maintain a website or other page linking to Horse Agistment Finder, you can update those links to the shorter address when convenient.
You may see both addresses in search results or older posts for a while. Both refer to Horse Agistment Finder, but the official new address is horseboarding.com.
Please be careful not to confuse it with similar-looking addresses. The new domain is one word, without a hyphen: horseboarding.com. The original domain is horse-boarding-finder.com.
Looking ahead
Horse Agistment Finder will continue to grow with the help of property owners who keep their listings up to date and horse owners who use and share the map. The goal remains simple: make it easier to find agistment properties with available space, wherever you’re looking for a place for your horse.
The new address is one small step toward making that easier. I hope horseboarding.com will be simpler to remember, easier to share, and useful to even more people in the horse community.
